The few things to impress your prospects 

1- take interest in his life story.

directly say, wow! really, it's really a good idea.

and repeatedly, praise him.


4- Respond at the end. 


When you think that he is questionless.
or 
he doesn't want to say anything more about himself or about the lacks on your topic.

quickly respond to the punch.
